At Aguas Viven, we work for the preservation and recovery of water resources that sustain life. Our purpose is to restore the natural balance in aquatic ecosystems through environmental education, reforestation, and responsible water management. We believe that water is an essential right for all forms of life, and we fight to ensure its access for future generations.

What is at Risk

Drinking Water

Water is the most crucial nutrient to sustain life.

Ecosystems

All plants, animals, insects, and microorganisms require water to survive. Over 90% of marine species are affected by plastic pollution.

Manufacturing

Every product you find in the supermarket today required water to be created. Without water, we cannot do ANYTHING.

The Future

In 2021, over 2 billion people lived in countries facing water shortages.
In 2022, at least 1.7 billion people worldwide consumed water from sources contaminated with feces.

Problem

Water Source Pollution

The pollution of water resources in Costa Rica and worldwide is a serious threat impacting both biodiversity and human health. Chemicals and industrial and agricultural effluents are the main sources of pollution, affecting rivers and water bodies.

Water Scarcity

Despite the perception that Costa Rica is a country with abundant water resources due to its tropical climate, the reality is that the country faces serious water scarcity issues. The negative trend in rainfall averages along with deforestation and uncontrolled urbanization in recent years has exacerbated this situation.

Community Impact

The lack of access to clean water disproportionately affects rural and vulnerable communities. Erratic rainfall and the increasing demand for water exacerbate the problem. Additionally, intensive agricultural practices, including excessive use of fertilizers and pesticides, pollute water bodies, endangering the health and well-being of people who depend on these sources.

Water Resource Protection

Implement strategies to ensure the conservation and protection of aquifers in Costa Rica.

Environmental Education

Promote environmental education in the community, raising awareness about the importance of water and the impact of pollution.

Reforestation and Restoration

Carry out reforestation and ecological restoration projects that strengthen our ecosystem's resilience and contribute to aquifer recharge.

Promote active community participation in conservation and restoration activities, strengthening the sense of responsibility towards our natural environment.

Our Actions

Educational Talks

We offer workshops and talks on recycling, environmental protection methods, solutions for optimal wastewater management, the importance of reforestation, and the crucial role of plants in our ecosystem.

Reforestation Campaigns

We organize reforestation events in critical areas to help restore ecological balance and protect water sources. Each tree planted is a step towards a healthier and more sustainable environment.

River Cleanup Campaigns

We are dedicated to trash collection and river cleanup, directly contributing to improving water quality and preserving our natural resources. These campaigns are an opportunity for the community to come together in a common effort for a cleaner environment.
